Save Water, Save Energy, Save Money!

• Consider installing WaterSense certified appliances in your home, such as high efficiency toilets, which use less than 1.3 gallons per flush.

• Install faucet aerators and showerheads that use 2.2 gallons per minute or less.

Fix those leaks! Dripping faucets can waste up to 3,000 gallons of water a year, while leaky toilets can waste up to 200 gallons per day.

• Take a shower instead of a bath. A five minute shower uses 10 to 25 gallons of water, while a full tub requires about 70 gallons.

• Make sure the dishwasher and clothes washer are fully loaded before running them.

• If washing anything by hand, don't let the water run! Stopper the sink or fill a bucket.

Keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator rather than letting water run to get a cool drink.

Reducing hot water use saves energy because your hot water heater has less work to do.

Water efficient showerheads and faucet aerators can reduce home water consumption and water heating costs by as much as 50%.

According to WaterSense, letting your faucet run for
5 minutes uses about as much energy as letting a 60-watt light bulb run for
14 hours.
