December 2004 Employee of the Month
Chief Ed Hartmann

For over thirty-six years Chief Hartmann has been a diligent and faithful Town Employee. Chief Hartmann has demonstrated great leadership and a tremendous ability to direct the Walpole Fire Department. For all of that and for his dedication to the Town of Walpole and his profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Chief Ed Hartmann as the December 2004 Employee of the Month. The Town wishes Chief Hartmann well in his retirement years.

Tom Perciaccante

His hard work and environmental diligence are highlighted in the Board of Health's Agent nomination of Tom Perciaccante. Tom has been a critical part of the Town's CORE team that worked on improving the conditions of the DPW facility. For all of that and for his continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and his profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Tom Perciaccante as the November 2004 Employee of the Month.

Officer Tim Sullivan

His decisiveness and quick decision-making ability under extreme circumstances are highlighted in the Police Chief's nomination of Officer Tim Sullivan. Tim showed great restraint and remained calm in the face of a very dangerous career criminal. For all of that and for his continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and his profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Officer Tim Sullivan as the October 2004 Employee of the Month.

Liz Gaffey, Customer Service Representative

Her exemplary customer service to all of the residents who come into Town Clerk's office and her willingness to come in to the Town Hall after hours to help Walpole Citizens are highlighted in Personnel And Benefits Coordinator's nomination of Elizabeth Gaffey. For all of that and for her continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and her profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Liz Gaffey as the September 2004 Employee of the Month.

Mary Feldman, Board of Health Staff Assistant

Her exemplary customer service to all of the residents and permit holders who come into Board of Health and her commitment to customer service are highlighted in the Board of Health Agent's nomination of Mary Feldman. For all of that and for her continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and her profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Mary Feldman as the August 2004 Employee of the Month.


July 2004 Employee of the Month
Mark Jones

The Town Engineer nominated Mark Jones for his dedication to GIS and his preparation of maps and graphics that were instrumental to the Town being awarded the Public Works Economic Development Grant. For all of that and for his continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and his profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Mark Jones as the July 2004 Employee of the Month.

Scott Gustafson

His willingness to conduct a vulnerable water assessment for the EPA and due diligence was key to bringing the water treatment plant online are highlighted in the Water Superintendent's nomination of Scott Gustafson. For all of that and for his continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and his profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Scott Gustafson as the June 2004 Employee of the Month.


May 2004 Employee of the Month
Linda Menyo


Going above and beyond the call of duty in the performance of her post as the Building Department Assistant are highlighted in the Building Commissioner's nomination of Linda Menyo. Linda is always pleasant and does whatever she can to help homeowners and contractors out during the building process. For all of that and for her continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and her profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present Linda Menyo as the May 2004 Employee of the Month.


April 2004 Employees of the Month
Officers John Carmichael & Jackie Nay


Outstanding efforts in the performance of their responsibilities as Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) trainers are highlighted in the Police Chief's nomination of Officer & for the April 2004 Employees of the month. Officers Nay & Carmichael took the initiative to seek training and development for the RAD program. This program, which is a community policing program, aids women in protecting themselves from assault and increases their confidence. For all of that and for their continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and their profession, it is the Town's pleasure to present of Officer Jackie Nay & Officer John Carmichael as the April 2004 Employees of the Month.


March 2004 Employee of the Month
Dottie Jennings, Principal Accounting Clerk

Outstanding efforts in the performance of her duties as the Principal Accounting Clerk are highlighted in the Town Accountant’s nomination of Dottie Jennings. Since the retirement of the Administrative Assistant in the Accounting office Dottie has accepted additional responsibilities and helped to promote a customer friendly environment. She has done an exceptional job preparing the weekly warrants and reports. For all of that and for her continued dedication to the Town of Walpole and her profession, it is the Town’s pleasure to present Dottie Jennings as the March 2004 Employee of the Month.


February 2004 Employees of the Month

The Town of Walpole is pleased to recognize two employees of the Walpole Fire Department for outstanding service to the Town and the department. Deputy Fire Chief Tim Bailey was nominated and recognized for his commitment to enhancing his skills through further education and training as a senior level manager in the fire service, as evidenced by his recent completion of a financial management program at the National Fire Academy in Maryland. In addition, his attention to detail was key to the Town receiving successful attainment of a Federal Fire Act grant totaling nearly $160,000. This award will provide much needed safety and fitness equipment for the department at no cost to the taxpayers of Walpole. Firefighter/Paramedic David Emswiler shares in this month’s award in recognition of his tireless efforts in advocating the importance of advanced life support service in the Town of Walpole, a level of service that is now a reality as the Town has finally reached ALS level certification. As the Town’s and Fire Department’s first Firefighter/Paramedic, Dave leads by example, showing not only fellow firefighters but the community at large that there is a true need for this advanced level of service, and as the department’s EMS Coordinator, he assisted the Chief of the Department in all phases of the ALS application process. It is with pleasure that each of these fine professionals is presented as the February 2004 Employees of the Month.


January 2004 Employees of the Month

Both Administrative Board Secretary Clare Abril and Administrative Secretary Cindy Berube are long-time and dedicated staff members that serve the Town in the Office of the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator. During January, each played key roles in new assignments and law changes that affected their office and the Town. As a result of staff reductions, Mrs. Berube was called upon for the first time to assemble and prepare Fiscal Year 2005 budget documents, a massive task that in the past that was handled by several employees, and the results were outstanding. Mrs. Abril was faced with researching, interpreting, and presenting information on a recent change to state law that now allows for alcohol sales on Sundays. Despite the enormous confusion of the new legislation, the Town was well positioned to properly work with the changes that resulted. Collectively, both Clare and Cindy are also recognized this month with their most professional approach toward dealing with staff reductions in their office since July. Both have taken on the added duties assignments and tasks with a smile, and their efforts are most appreciated. It is fitting therefore that this award is presented to Clare Abril and Cindy Berube, our January 2004 Employees of the Month.
