Medical Aid Fund
The
Walpole Emergency Medical Aid Fund was established in 1940 by a
Walpole citizen to provide financially needy applicants with assistance
for a variety of emergency medical services. In the past, WEMAF
has provided hearing and vision aids, wheelchairs, hospital equipment
for the home, orthopedic devices, special nursing care, counseling,
dental care and prescriptions for economically disadvantaged individuals
and families residing in Walpole.
The
criteria for eligibility include Walpole residency, financial need
and medical necessity. The fund is unable to consider expenses covered
by private insurance or any public assistance agency. The use of
the fund carries no financial obligation to the recipient, and all
the information is confidential.
